It is an honor and a pleasure to be working alongside the very talented makeup artist Derby Lopez. My clients absolutely love her and she does such wonderful work to make you feel glamorous and beautiful for your portraits. For this "behind the scenes," the camera turns to Derby herself  as she shares with us the process of her artistry. This is the story behind this gorgeous and talented face!

Her photo shoot began with a little inspiration from one of my favorite books, The ELLEments of Personal Style (as in Elle fashion magazine). It's a "golden" book featuring 25 amazing modern fashion icons and beautiful photography. She then began her own makeup session -- sitting next to a great big window and working next to soft, natural light, her creative process was focused and precise. She was a true artist at work -- a myriad of brushes, palettes, tools, and colors were at her disposal -- and her face the canvas.

Her eyes were so bewitching and amazing!

She finished off with the lips...did a little wardrobe change...and in no time was camera ready!
